Karpinsky Institute continues cooperation with the People's Republic of China

On 13 April 2024, the Karpinsky Institute was visited by a delegation of the Xi'an Centre of the Geological Survey of China led by the Centre's Director Li Jianxin.

During the workshop Pavel Khimchenko, Director General of the Karpinsky Institute, and Li Jianxin, Director of the Xi'an Centre, discussed further areas of cooperation and exchange of experience on the projects outlined earlier at the meeting of the Rosnedra delegation with the Chinese Geological Survey in August 2023 in China.

The parties discussed areas of interaction between the Institute and the Xi'an Centre, the possibilities of exchange of experience in cooperation with mining companies, outlined tentative plans for implementation of large joint projects.

A special cultural and social programme was organised for the delegation from the Xi'an Centre in St. Petersburg, as this was the first visit to Russia for many of the Chinese colleagues. The delegation also visited the Geological Prospecting Museum of the Karpinsky Institute and the Russian Geological Library, where the Chinese colleagues were shown an exhibition of archival documents and materials on geological surveys performed in China as part of Russian-Chinese cooperation.
