Gold deposits of the Zimbabwe Province

A description of a number of gold deposits in the Zimbabwe Province is given. It is shown that the Main Fault is the main element of the structure of the province. It is healed by the Great Dyke with chromite and platinum-metal mineralization. Gold deposits are located in Late Archean greenstone belts and are confined to the faults occurring in echelon towards the Main Fault. Most of gold deposits are of low-sulfide, quartz-vein type, others are gold-sulfide-quartz zones of vein-disseminated type, even less often zones of sulfide dissemination. Antimonite is often mined as a by-product.
Keywords: province, gold deposits, greenstone belt, Great Dyke, gold, antimonite.
