The grinding workshop is equipped with high-quality equipment for sawing, grinding and drilling (Buehler, USA, Winter Holztechnik, Germany) and performs following operations:

• Preparing petrographic and paleontological thin sections;
• Preparing polished sections;
• Sawing rocks with a diamond saw;
• Polishing (with preliminary grinding) the surface of samples;
• Production of cassettes (five minerals in a cassette) for microprobe analysis;
• Restoration of polished sections.
