During the workshop, the parties discussed a number of issues, including the implementation of decisions taken during the 4th Workshop of the Russian-Cuban Working Group on Geology and Mining of the Intergovernmental Russian-Cuban Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation; on the current state and plans for further cooperation in geology and mining.
The parties noted positive results in the implementation of bilateral agreements reached during the 4th Workshop of the Working Group on Geology and Mining. The Federal Agency on Mineral Resources has engaged subordinate scientific institutes to carry out investigations for comprehensive analysis of promising projects in geology and subsoil use for eliciting potential of known targets and discovering new prospects in the Republic of Cuba.

Viktor Snezhko, director of the Center of Information Technologies for Regional Geology and Metallogeny of the FGBU VSEGEI made a presentation on technical aspects of localizing Sherpa technology. As a result of the workshop, the Cuban side sent a draft proposal from IGP (Instituto de Geología y Paleontología. Servicio Geológico de Cuba) for cooperation with FGBU VSEGEI on the application of Sherpa technology in geological studies in Cuba. The Russian side (FGBU VSEGEI) supported this proposal and expressed its willingness to provide, free of charge, the current version of the technological support for maintaining field documentation on mobile devices (Sherpa) and to hold a video conference with additional explanations on the use of this technology within the time frame agreed with the Cuban side.
