Sergey Sergeev graduated from Leningrad State University majored in geology of deposits of radioactive elements.
From 1979 to 1990, he worked as a researcher at the Institute of Geology and Geochronology of Precambrian Academy of Sciences of the USSR (Leningrad), defended his candidate thesis “Geology and Isotopic Geochronology of Archean Granite-Greenstone Complexes in Central and South-East Karelia”. From 1990 to 2000, he worked at the Institute of Isotope Geology and Mineral Resources of the Swiss Federal University of Technology (ETH, Zurich).
Since 2000, Mr. Sergeev is the head of the Centre of Isotopic Research at FGBU VSEGEI; since 2003, S. Sergeev has been coordinating his responsibilities as the head of the center with the position of assistant professor in the Base Department of Isotopic Geology at the Institute of Earth Sciences, St. Petersburg State University.
His research interests include high-resolution isotopic geochronology and geochemistry, the use of isotope methods for solving metallogenic, technological and correlation problems. The author of over 300 scientific papers.
Awarded with the Medal of the Order of Merit to the Fatherland 2nd class (2007), the Honored Explorer Badge (2014).
